What is RAMP Bar Prep?

RAMP: Adaptive Bar Exam Prep

Learn the rules. Apply them fluently.
Walk in ready.

RAMP is an adaptive bar exam study tool that closes the gap between “I’ve heard of this rule” and “I can apply it cold under pressure.” It’s built around how memory and attention actually work — and it comes in a version tuned to whichever bar exam you’re taking.

How it works →

📚 Adaptive scaffolding

Support fades as you master each topic — tracked independently per topic.

🔄 Spaced repetition built in

Topics come back at the right intervals. The system tells you what to study next.

🧠 Built for how brains work

Working memory aids, short sessions, ADHD-friendly — designed in, not bolted on.

🎓 A free subject to try

Every version starts with a full subject, all three tiers, no credit card.

One tool, three exams.

Lee Burgess

Hi, I’m Lee Burgess, one of the co-founders of the Bar Exam Toolbox.

Most bar prep treats “learning a rule” and “knowing it cold” as the same thing. They aren’t — and the distance between them is where students often fall short.

RAMP is built to close that distance: it gives you full support while a rule is new, then strips the support away as you master it, until it’s just you and the fact pattern, like exam day. Your bar course explains the law. RAMP makes sure you actually know it.

The engine is the same whichever bar you’re taking. What changes is scope — each version covers exactly the subjects your exam tests, and nothing it doesn’t.

Select an option below for the full walkthrough, the subject list, pricing, and a free subject to try.

Built around how memory and attention actually work.

Most bar prep was designed for someone who can sit still and focus for three hours without a break. That’s not most people. And it was never going to work for the students we built RAMP for.

We didn’t add an “accessibility mode.” We made the way memory and attention actually work the starting point for the whole tool. Every version of RAMP is built this way:

The rule stays on the screen while it’s new.

Working memory holds about four things; a bar question asks you to juggle more. At the first tier, the rule is right there, so your attention goes to applying it instead of straining to recall it.

Fact patterns are chunked, not walls of text.

Short paragraphs, visual anchors, white space — so a hard question doesn’t also become a hard reading task.

Sessions run 20–25 minutes by default.

Built for the attention you actually have, not a three-hour block you’re supposed to power through. Spaced repetition makes the short sessions compound.

Feedback is immediate, every time.

You find out why an answer was right or wrong while the question is still fresh — not hours later when the thread is gone.

“If you have accommodations on the bar exam, you should have them in your prep tool, too. Your bar course wasn’t designed for that. RAMP was.”

Why we built it — in our own words.

We didn’t set out to build a study tool. We set out to fix a pattern we’d watched for 15 years: smart people who did everything right and still couldn’t pull the rules up when it counted. On the podcast, we walked through the thinking — and the learning science — behind every design decision in RAMP.

How We’re Thinking About NextGen Prep Differently

Why the usual advice — sit through lectures, make outlines, drill questions — leaves a gap, and what we built to close it. (Plus how to try RAMP for free.)

This Is How Your Brain Actually Learns
